Del Piero: It's a strange year for us

Juventus striker Alessandro Del Piero has been disappointed with his team's poor form in Serie A this season.

He claims that even if the Turin giants manage to win the Europa League, it will do little to mask the how badly Juve have been in the league.

Juventus have fallen badly behind in the title race after a promising start to their season.

"We cannot look that far ahead and if I was to make a really definitive analysis of our entire season then winning the Europa League would not be enough to get over the disappointment of not having challenged for the Scudetto.

"The League table says it all. It has been a strange year for us, but I hope that we have matured after all that has happened and I hope these things do not repeat themselves at Juventus in the future.

"We are yet to come out of the tunnel, but we have started to get some results. The League is still full of traps and there are teams that know how to play and put you in difficulty.

"There is Palermo, Napoli and tomorrow we have Fiorentina, who did not deserve to lose against Milan and Roma, and we all saw what happened against Bayern Munich.

Last week, Juventus were pushed out of the top four by Palermo after  a shock defeat by the latter team. With a tough game against Fiorentina coming up next, Del Piero hopes the Viola will be distracted by their upcoming Champions League tie against Bayern Munich.

"I hope Fiorentina are thinking about the Champions League," Del Piero concluded.
