Del Piero blasts complacent Juve
Alessandro Del Piero has blasted Juventus for being complacent after they let slip a three-goal lead to draw 3-3 with Siena.
Juventus had raced into a 3-0 lead after ten minutes thanks to a brace from Del Piero and one from Antonio Candreva.
But Siena staged the unlikeliest of comebacks after former Middlesbrough striker Massimo Maccarone scored in the 16th minute to give them some hope. An impressive brace from Abdelkader Ghezzal then earned Siena a point.
Del Piero has refused to blame fatigue for Juventus' defeat after being involved in the Europa League in midweek.
"I don't think that the problem comes down to fatigue, as our team is still involved in Europe," the 35-year-old told Juventus Channel after scoring his 300th and 301st goal for the Bianconeri. "We just did not keep our advantage.
"All credit goes to Siena, as they did fantastic to claim a point, but there is also a bit of mea culpa in this result.
"When you score three goals in 10 minutes, you believe that you have done enough to take home all three points. We started well, but then we relaxed.
"Our attention will now turn to London and facing Fulham. There is a lot to play for, and a great match awaits," concluded Del Piero.
