Gilardino delights in Fiorentina win
Fiorentina striker Alberto Gilardino has praised his side's resilience in bouncing back from the Champions League defeat.
Fiorentina suffered heartbreak in midweek when their Champions League dreams came crashing down courtesy of a stunning goal from Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben.
The defeat was made all the more bitter for the Viola given that Bayern had been fortunate to score in the first leg. Miroslav Klose was clearly offside when he scored for the Bavarians and had that goal not been allowed, Fiorentina would have gone through.
Keeping this in mind, Gilardino was quite pleased that things were not derailed on the domestic front. The Viola defeated eight placed Napoli 3-1 on Saturday.
"The whole team won this game," Gilardino told Radioblu after the match.
"The group won it. It means a lot to have players who are always ready, even though they don't play regularly. We did really well."
"For now our objective is to qualify for the Europa League," he revealed.
"But if we win all [our games], we can still hope for something more, although I think it's tough.".
Fiorentina currently languish in 10th place in the table.
