Inter reject Real's €26m Maicon bid
Real Madrid will have to mastermind another plot to capture Inter's Maicon after their €26 million offer was thrown back at them.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Spanish giants raised their stake from €24m to €26m but Inter chief Massimo Moratti was unmoved by the fresh offer.
Moratti is believed to be holding out for nothing less than €30m for his prized asset and will only enter into negotiations if the price is right.
If Madrid are willing to dig deeper into their pockets to meet the asking price, Maicon would be able to agree personal terms with the Spanish club.
Maicon's agent Antonio Caliendo is also adamant "there would be no problem" in reaching a consensus over the terms and is meeting Moratti next week to coax him into lowering his valuation.
If that fails, Madrid will have to pay the fixed price of €30m to land their long-time target.
