Allegri delighted with Milan outing
AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri was ecstatic with his side's comprehensive win over Lecce.
Milan romped to a 4-0 win over the newly-promoted side - with striker Alexandre Pato opening his campaign with a brace of goals.
After a few seasons of disappointment, Milan were hoping to embark on a much more promising campaign this season and they got off to a perfect start.
Speaking to Sky after the game, Allegri said: "Playing against a newly promoted team first up is never easy, but we were good enough in both defensive and offensive aspects.
"It was a good match even if we are not in peak physical condition. An error every now and then is normal during this time."
Barcelona striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has arrived at the San Siro on a year-long loan deal, but if Pato's form is any indication, he'll have his work cut out to break into the first eleven.
Discussing the move, Allegri said: "The first contact with [vice president Adriano] Galliani was made on May 18, and nothing prior to this. The arrival of Ibrahimovic has created lots of enthusiasm around the place, but the side before this was ready to play a strong match.
"Ibra will help us take another step in improving our quality players, but we would have done well in the race for the Scudetto without him."
The Rossoneri next travel to Cesena on September 12. Although it is an easy encounter on paper, Cesena are no pushovers, as they showed by holding Roma to a 0-0 draw over the weekend.
