Camoranesi: It was time to leave Juve
Former Juventus midfielder Mauro Camoranesi believes he left the club at the right time in his career.
Camoranesi left Turin for Bundesliga club Stuttgart after a sparking eight year career during which he turned out 224 times for the Bianconeri, scoring 27 goals in the process.
Speaking to Tuttosport after his move, the 33-year-old said:"I am very happy to be here. The staff and the players made me feel at home immediately upon my arrival.
"There are many players here that I met during the World Cup, as well as Cristian Molinaro, who was my team-mate at Juventus. Stuttgart are a great side, and the fact that I am here as a reinforcement only adds to its stature.
"Physically, I feel fine, as I have been training since July 18, and am at the coach's disposal.
"I believe this was the right moment for me to leave Juventus. I am extremely pleased to have been given the opportunity to play there.
The midfielder spoke about how the Bundesliga has been gaining in quality in recent times. The German league is the most watched in Europe while Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich made it to the Champions League final in the 2009/10 season.
"The Bundesliga has grown a lot in the past few seasons and there are many big-name players that have chosen to play their football here. I had other offers, but Stuttgart was my preference," he said.
Stuttgart were the most successful team in the second half of the last Bundesliga season. However, their start to the new campaign has not been very good and the veteran will be tasked with righting that in the near future.
