"Juve can't win Serie A this year"
Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini admits the side is not strong enough to challenge for the Scudetto this season.
Juventus have been on a downward spiral over the past few seasons, finishing seventh in the Serie A in 2009/10 and failing to qualify automatically even for the Europa League.
Even though there have been some new arrivals at Turin, Chiellini believes it is AC Milan who have had the best of the transfer deals. The Rossoneri added Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Robinho - names which can take the side to the apex of the domestic competition.
"If Ibrahimovic has the same impact he had at Inter then he can win the title by himself," Chiellini told the media.
"Him, Alexandre Pato and Ronaldinho will be scoring plenty. Juventus? We are quite a big step behind, but I like Juve's project. It's for the long term. Our objective this season is Champions League qualification.
"We have to be clear with the fans and not create pressure on ourselves or on them."
The 26-year-old then spoke about Italy's upcoming Euro 2012 qualifiers against Estonia and Faroe Islands.
"[Antonio] Cassano is the player with most quality, but it doesn't mean we are clutching onto him. If a team doesn't function then not even [Lionel] Messi can make a difference," he said.
The Azzurri travel to Estonia for their Sep 3 clash before hosting Faroe Islands on Sep 7.
