"We won't be able to keep Marchetti!"
Cagliari president Massimo Cellino has given up keeping goalkeeper Ferderico Marchetti in Serie A.
Speaking to Sky Sport 24, Cellino said: "I am worried that I cannot use him at Cagliari this season because of what he has said to the media," Cellino revealed to Sky Sport 24.
"In football, these stupidities you can pay for, and they can ruin your career at the height of it."
The 27-year-old had made his intention to leave clear during the transfer window, but could not find agreement with any suitors, despite interest from Arsenal, West Ham, Chelsea and Manchester City.
"I have always considered him a great goalkeeper, but he was unable to find a new home during this transfer season. There is, though, the January transfer market", Cellino added.
"He will have to train hard, demonstrating to others his qualities because he is a professional."
