Inter Milan central defender Cristian Chivu has poured cold water on speculation that he has been in contact with Serie A giants AC Milan regarding a possible move.

Recent reports have suggested that the versatile marker is negotiating with the Scudetto holders ahead of a possible free transfer switch at the end of the current campaign.

Romanian international Chivu however, has quashed rumours over an impending move to Inter's hated city rivals.

"That was just something the media concocted, and by no coincidence it was right before the derby. That was wrong and totally untrue," Chivu was quoted as saying by Inter Channel.

"Nobody spoke to the club, to me or anyone else about that. And it's not going to happen. It's all made up and I'm not even interested."

Chivu, whose contract with the 2010 European champions runs out this summer, added that contract renewal talks are set to take place in the coming weeks.

"My agent and the club have decided they will discuss it in February," he added.
