Zanetti bemoans 'worst' Inter display
Inter Milan skipper Javier Zanetti was almost at a loss for words on Sunday as his side slumped to a 4-0 defeat at Roma.
Juve, Milan held; Inter thrashed
After the heavy defeat, Zanetti struggled to find any positives from the game and conceded that his side had put in their 'worst performance' of the season against Roma.
"I think this was Inter's worst performance since the start of the season, regardless of the fact that Roma played very well and deserved to win," Zanetti told Inter Channel.
"We did not even turn up, it was a mass blackout, but we have to try and remain concentrated for Sunday's game because we can't repeat a performance like today's.
"Roma deserve full credit. They kept hold of the ball well and were able to pass their way out of defence and that's when we started struggling."
Inter remain fifth in the Serie A standings, nine points behind leaders Juventus with Zanetti adding that the loss against Roma had left everyone at the club "bitterly disappointed".
Fabio Borini was the hero for Roma on Sunday as he scored twice while there were also goals for Juan and substitute Bojan Krkic.
The Nerazzurri are currently on a three game winless run.
