Mourinho lining up bid for Xavi

Inter coach, Jose Mourinho is reportedly lining up a bid for Euro 2008's player of the tournament, Xavi from Barcelona.

The classy midfielder's name was brought up to Inter president, Massimo Moratti by Mourinho as he continues his search for a playmaker who can provide the telling passes.

With Frank Lampard's move looking dead and buried, the Portuguese is moving in fast on his other transfer targets.

28-year-old Xavi was a huge factor in Spain's Euro 2008 triumph as he helped the underachieving nation pick up their first title in 44 years.

This will not be Mourinho's first attempt at signing Xavi as he tried signing the player for Chelsea two years ago.

English giants, Manchester United and Liverpool are monitoring the situation with both clubs seemingly interested in the midfielder's services.
