Inter captain Javier Zanetti has described Frank Lampard as a "champion" and would welcome the him at the Nerazzurri club.

Lampard, 30, is reportedly the number one target of new Inter boss Jose Mourinho, who enjoyed an excellent relationship with the England player when he was in charge at Stamford Bridge.

And Argentina international Zanetti believes Lampard would be the ideal candidate saying: "I have played against him only at international level and he is a true champion."

He added: "He defends, attacks and shoots well. There are very few players around who are as complete as he is."
