Huh names young squad for qualifier
Huh Jung-moo has named a young South Korea squad for the September 10 World Cup qualifier with North Korea in Shanghai.
Suwon Samsung strikers Shin Young-rok and Seo Dong-hyun could make their debuts, while FC Seoul's teenage midfielder Ki Sung-young has also been selected for the first time in the 23-man squad.
Manchester United's Park Ji-sung is still short of fitness after a knee injury, while Fulham's Seol Ki-hyeon and new Borussia Dortmund signing Lee Young-pyo have also been omitted, but West Brom's Kim Do-heon has been included.
"Lee has just joined a new team and has to adapt and I also considered the fact that Seol is once again playing for his club team," Huh said.
"I have selected players who are fit and in form in the K-League and have attempted to maintain balance in the team."
New Suwon Samsung Bluewings attacker Lee Chun-soo is included in the squad for the first time during Huh's reign, while Cho Jae-jin also earns a recall.
FC Seoul striker and Wigan Athletic target Park Chu-young has been left out due to a lack of fitness.
The match has been switched from Pyongyang to Shanghai by FIFA in a similar move to the meeting between the two sides in the previous round of qualifiers.
South Korea will face Jordan in Seoul on September 6 before heading to Shanghai as Huh's side look to begin their Group B campaign with a win over their neighbours, who they shared two goalless draws with in the previous round.
