Venue change motivates Georgia

Kakha Kaladze believes the decision to move their match against Ireland for security reasons has fuelled their will to win.

Russian troops were sent into Georgia last month and football's world governing body have decided Saturday's game will be played in Mainz instead.

AC Milan defender Kaladze told Gazzetta dello Sport: "I and the many of my national team-mates still continue to ask ourselves why this decision has been taken.

"In Georgia, there is no civil war. We are not the ones creating danger. What could happen in Tbilisi's stadium? Nothing.

"It would only have been a celebration for thousands of people who are suffering but we have to be patient."

Kaladze though insists FIFA's decision will give Georgia added motivation.

He added: "We will go out on the pitch with the support of five million. The games will be shown live on TV all over the country.

"We will be eager to give our people some calm as a present.

"In this war, there have been many deaths. It could be that we could go out on the pitch wearing black arm bands.

"Perhaps we will be able to give financial help to the families that have been hit by the Russian invasion, for those who don't have a house."

Kaladze revealed he has been involved in charity work to help his fellow Georgians, saying: "My foundation has already raised 50,000 euros (US$71,300)."
