Young gun earns Russian call-up

Russia coach Guus Hiddink has included young CSKA Moscow midfielder Alan Dzagoev in his 22-man squad.

Russia will be in action in next month's World Cup qualifiers against Germany and Finland.

The 18-year old Dzagoev scored twice in CSKA's 3-1 win at defending champions Zenit St Petersburg two weeks ago - a victory which resurrected his team's hopes of a Champions League place - and also netted against Tomsk at the weekend.

Young Spartak Moscow striker Aleksandr Prudnikov also receives a first call-up, whilst Zenit midfielder Igor Denisov returns to the national squad for the first time since declining a place in Hiddink's Euro 2008 finals squad.

The major blow for Hiddink is the loss of central defender Denis Kolodin, who will miss the remainder of the Russian season after damaging his ankle in a collision with Korean Oh Beom-Seok during Dinamo Moscow's 3-3 draw with Krylya Sovetov Samara on Saturday.

Russia face Germany in Dortmund on October 11 before hosting Stuart Baxter's Finland at the Lokomotiv Stadium in Moscow four days later.
