We take a look at the players who will hope to have a major say in the game between England and Ukraine.

RIO FERDINAND vs ANDRIY SHEVCHENKO

Ferdinand returns to the England line-up after a succession of injuries so the first thing he must prove is his fitness if he is to remain first-choice alongside John Terry. He will need all his experience when he comes up against veteran former AC Milan and Chelsea striker Shevchenko, who scored the winner and was man of the match in Dynamo Kiev's Ukrainian League victory on Sunday and averages an international goal almost every other game.

FRANK LAMPARD vs ANATOLIY TYMOSCHUK

Lampard's international form is currently better than for Chelsea with six goals in his last seven caps. His runs from deep are often difficult to pick up but that will be a job for Bayern Munich's defensive midfielder Tymoschuk.

EMILE HESKEY vs OLEKSANDR KUCHER

Heskey plays a key role in England's tactics but his record of seven goals in 56 appearances means he continues to have to justify his selection. Kucher has Champions League experience and won the UEFA Cup with Shakhtar Donetsk last season so will be looking to keep Heskey on a tight rein.
