Villa ruled out of Spain qualifiers

David Villa has been ruled out of Spain's final two World Cup qualifiers with a muscle tear in his right leg.

The Valencia striker suffered the injury in his side's 1-0 win over Racing Santander yesterday.

The club confirmed tonight on their official website the injury is likely to keep him out for three weeks, meaning he will miss Spain's meeting with Armenia on Saturday and with Bosnia-Herzegovina the following Wednesday.

That prognosis would also see Villa miss Valencia's Primera Division game with champions Barcelona on October 18.

Spain have already qualified for the World Cup, having won all eight of their qualifiers to date to sit top of Group Five.
