Low on a high after Germans qualify
Germany coach Joachim Low struggled to hide his delight after his side sealed their place at next year's World Cup finals.
They went through courtesy of a hard-fought 1-0 win against Russia in Moscow.
It was a well-organised and professional performance from Germany, who had to soak up sustained periods of Russian pressure after taking the lead through Miroslav Klose in the first half.
"I am very happy with the result," said Low. "We have worked very hard all week and came here with no intention of playing for a draw. We only wanted to win.
"It was a disciplined performance. We defended excellently and played on the counter attack often with three, four or five players going forward.
"We are extremely satisfied with the result. At Euro 2008 we didn't show such good play but we are beginning to show that now."
Low paid tribute to goalkeeper Rene Adler, who pulled off a string of second half saves as Russia went in search of an equaliser.
"Big compliments to Adler, and not only for the effort he has put in over the last week," he added.
"It was only his seventh international game, he does not have much experience and it was especially difficult for him to come here to Russia for such a decisive match.
"He was completely calm and took it all in his stride. He reacted very well to some good Russian moves and overall looked very solid."
