Dunga: Argentina will qualify
Brazil coach Dunga has backed Argentina to join his side at next summer's World Cup extravaganza in South Africa.
Argentina face a crunch clash with Uruguay in Montevideo on Wednesday night, a game that, should they win, would see them book their own automatic ticket for the 2010 World Cup thanks to a fourth placed finish in a fascinating South American qualifying group.
Defeat, however, would leave Uruguay looking for South African hotel accommodation, whilst a draw for Diego Maradona's men could prove enough as Ecuador would need to beat Chile by some five goals or more to move ahead of Argentina on goal difference.
A last gasp Martin Palermo goal last weekend gave Argentina a 2-1 win over Peru and hope of avoiding the lottery of a play-off - albeit against a decidedly weaker CONCACAF representative in the shape of either Honduras or Costa Rica.
With the pressure on Maradona to succeed, Dunga is adamant that Argentina will come good just when it matters.
"Uruguay are going to have to go for it, and that could give Argentina lots of space to play in," Dunga said.
"They will be over the nervousness and will play much better."
"Anyone who works in football knows Argentina not only had to beat Peru, but also a case of the nerves," he added.
Brazil, Paraguay and Chile have already claimed the first three spots.
