Hinkel still retains Germany ambitions

Andreas Hinkel insists he can force his way into Germany's World Cup squad, despite being omitted for friendlies against Chile and Ivory Coast.

Hinkel, who has 19 caps, has found himself a bit-part player for his country since Joachim Low became manager after the 2006 finals.

The 27-year-old told Celtic View: "I would love to be a part of the squad.

"I wasn't picked for the two games this week and that's a disappointment, but we will wait and see what happens.

"The World Cup is eight months away. A lot can happen between then and now.

"The coach has not chosen his final squad, so there is still time. I want to do my best for Celtic and help the team win trophies.

"Hopefully, that can help me get a place in the World Cup squad."
