Terry will not offer to quit

Chelsea defender John Terry will not give up his England captaincy, according to BBC Sport and Sky Sports News.

Terry has been embroiled in a off-field scandal after allegedly getting involved with a teammate's ex-girlfriend. The teammate is believed to be Wayne Bridge who is now with Manchester City.

Papers in the United Kingdom have been extensively covering this story which has led to calls for Terry to step down as England captain.

The English Football Association has announced that it will be up to England head coach Fabio Capello to decide whether Terry should stay as England captain.

Capello is expected to return to work on Thursday after recovering from knee surgery in Switzerland.

With Terry reportedly unwilling to step down on his own, he has forced Capello to make the difficult choice.

It is widely reported that the England coach will reassess Terry's future as captain and announce his decision on Friday.
