New deal for van Marwijk

New deal for van Marwijk

Holland coach Bert van Marwijk has agreed a new two-year contract extension, the Dutch football association have confirmed.

The new deal will see the 57-year-old remain in charge of the Oranje through to the 2012 European Championships in Ukraine and Poland.

Van Marwijk's existing deal ran until the end of this summer's World Cup but he has been rewarded for his achievement in guiding the Dutch to South Africa by winning all their matches in the group stage.

Van Marwijk's assistants Dick Voorn, Phillip Cocu and Frank de Boer had previously agreed new deals, while the coach's entire backroom staff, including goalkeeping coach Ruud Hesp, have also committed to the national team for the next two years.

"I attached great importance to the fact that the entire staff would stay together," said Van Marwijk. "That was a condition for me."

Van Marwijk is currently preparing his squad for the friendly against the United States in Amsterdam.
