Del Bosque gives Selección praise

After winning Spain's first-ever World Cup™, coach Vicente del Bosque was quick to laud praise on his players.

A 1-0 extra-time victory over the Netherlands in an ill-tempered final gave la Furia Roja the 2010 World Cup title.

"It was a very difficult game but our players are fantastic. They have managed to win it first time. It is true that they (Netherlands) had chances to score but we have had four clear chances," the Iberian is quoted as saying by AS.

"We owe everything to them, these great players. We have had 50 days without incident, I feel very proud of the players. They also know and appreciate what we have achieved in a group that has great values and principles. This is invaluable for Spain. It's a very happy day for all the Spanish people."

Under del Bosque's management, Spain have won 31 of 33 games, scoring 83 goals in the process.
