Popularly known as the “Black Stars”, the Ghana national football team made their international debut under their previous name, Gold Coast, in 28th May 1950, at home against Nigeria – a game they won 1-0.

Ghana are the second most successful team in the history of the tournament, having won the Africa Cup of Nations four times in 1963, 1965, 1978 and 1982. They have also claimed second place in the competition for four years, in 1968, 1970, 1992 and most recently, 2010.

This will be their 18th appearance in the tournament.
