Uruguay
Group A

Uruguay were the last country to qualify for South Africa after they recorded a controversial 2-1 aggregate victory over Costa Rica. Uruguay, who were the first-ever hosts of the World Cup, had finished fifth in their South America group to set up a play-off tie with the fourth-placed CONCACAF country.

The two-time World Cup champions will be aiming to give a good account of themselves after missing out on the last World Cup. They will be depending on the firepower of Ajax striker Luis Suarez as well as the veteran Diego Forlan who is one of the most capped player at 60.

Chances:

World Cup play-off regulars in recent years, Uruguay will be tough opponents for anyone and will be targeting a place in the last 16, though a revitalised Mexico and group 'big guns' France will be favourites to progress.
