Kaymer closing in on return

Kaymer closing in on return

German Martin Kaymer is still hoping to return at the Castello Masters in Spain in two weeks.

The 24-year-old has been out of action for nearly two months after breaking toes in a go-kart crash.

"Martin is doing quite well actually and he has already done a little bit of chipping and putting," said manager Lillian Jansson.

"He is really keen to get back to the course again."

Kaymer, who had surgery at the end of August, lost top spot on the European money list when Rory McIlroy finished joint second in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship on Monday.

That also pushed Paul Casey down to third. He has not played since withdrawing from the Bridgestone Invitiational on August 6 because of a rib injury.

Casey's planned return is the Volvo World Match Play Championship near Marbella at the end of the month. Kaymer and McIlroy have also qualified for the 16-man field there.
