Liang happy with Singapore start
Liang Wen-chong is satisfied with his display after he surged up the leaderboard with three-under 68 at the Barclays Singapore Open
He finished round two on five-under 137 after another weather-disrupted round on Friday.
The 31-year-old, who is China's number one golfer, was grouped with world number six Padraig Harrington and Anthony Kang in the first two rounds. Liang thought he could have done better if his body had listened to him.
"I was happy with my round today except for a couple of par threes (after starting at the 10th, the 14th and eighth) where I had bogeys," he told reporters in Mandarin.
"I was a bit disappointed not to birdie my last hole (the ninth) but that is golf. I will try harder tomorrow.
"My body movement caused my tee shots to go to the right and it was hard to recover from there. I am swinging well overall but I have to work on my putting."
Singapore seemed to be a lucky place for Liang - it was the venue where he also won the Singapore Masters in 2007. He said he enjoys playing in the Lion City because the field is always very strong. He also felt that he can help fly the flag for Asia in the closing rounds.
"I like playing in Singapore. The events here, the Singapore Masters and the Barclays Singapore Open, are big events. These tournaments give me the opportunity to play against the best players in the world and I get inspired by that. It also gives me extra motivation."
"I believe I have the right frame of mind to cope with being one of the top Asians in the field this week."
As more rain is expected for the next two days, Liang and the other golfers will almost certainly be affected by numerous delays. So just how does Liang cope with the interruptions?
"I cope with the delays by trying to be mentally strong and keep focusing on my game when play resumes," he said.
