Wilson going strong in Hong Kong
England's Oliver Wilson moved into a one-stroke lead midway through his second round at the UBS Hong Kong Open today.
The 28-year-old, who lost out to Sergio Garcia in a play-off at the recent HSBC Champions, started the day two shots behind overnight leaders Liang Wen-chong and Richard Sterne but maintained his charge for a maiden European Tour victory at the Hong Kong Golf Club.
Starting on the 10th, Wilson reeled off four birdies against one bogey to reach the turn at three under and claim the outright lead at seven under overall.
Chinese Taipei's Lin Wen-tang moved onto six under through nine after carding two birdies and one bogey.
He was alongside Sterne, who was level par through seven, Italy's Francesco Molinari and Liang, who will tee off early in the afternoon.
Colin Montgomerie made a solid start to his second round with four birdies and one bogey through 11 moving the Scot to within two shots of the lead and he was alongside Swede Peter Hanson at five under overall.
Miguel Angel Jimenez improved upon his disappointing performance from yesterday and was two under through nine but will need to pick up birdies coming home if the Spaniard is to have a chance of defending his Hong Kong title.
Former US Open champion Michael Campbell, who yesterday carded a 71, withdrew before the start of today's play due to a shoulder injury.
