The 47-year-old carded a four-under-par 68, picking up birdies on the third, fifth, ninth and 13th to move top of the leaderboard at 13 under overall.
Kim Hyung-sung, Takeshi Kajikawa, Hiroyuki Fujita and Katsumasa Miyamoto are all tied for second at 10 under.
Australian Paul Sheehan recovered from a disappointing round yesterday with a five-under-par 67 and is four shots off the pace alongside I J Jang and Taigen Tsumagari.
