The man behind Bhullar's success
SportsCenter's Achint Gupta finds out the man behind Gaganjeet Bhullar’s success on the final day of the Indonesian Open.
Bhullar's scintillating performance on the final day of the Indonesian open saw him becoming the youngest Indian ever to win an Asian tour title.
But till about 2 years back, the 21-year-old used to have final day fears, which he overcame with the help of a psychologist.
Dr. Pradeep Aggarwal, right now training with Mandeo Singh Pathania who is a also golf star in the making.
Just a few years back, Dr. Pradeep Aggarwal, who is a psychologist, met Gaganjeet Bhullar in Panchkula and realised that Punjab-lad has a problem withholding nerves on the final day of a tournament. That is when he helped him calm down the nerves.
"When I first met Gaganjeet he had problems of losing concentration on the final day. That is when I worked on him and used hypnotherapy. It worked wonderfully for him and now you can see that in results," said Dr. Aggarwal.
Dr Aggarwal who had earlier worked with golfers like Rahil Ganjee, Anirban Lahri, Harmeet Kahlon, is currently working with Mandeo Singh Pathania -- another star golfer in the making.
Aggarwal believes in clearing the excess baggage a golfer carries while playing.
"The therapy is wonderful as it has worked well for not only Gaganjeet but also for Anirabn Lahri and myself. Dr. Agarwal tells us to aim at flag not on the green," said Pathania, Professional Golfer, India.
Yes, it is all about the flag, and that is precisely what Gaganjeet Bhullar is aiming at, to flutter the tri-colour high in the golfing world, and with Dr. Aggarwal at his side, he surely has made the cut.
