Tough day for Ishikawa at Japan Open

Hiroyuki Fujita and Han Lee moved into a one shot halfway lead with level par rounds in at the Musashi Country Club.

Fujita, who is seeking his third title of the season, scattered three birdies and three bogeys across his second round card, while Lee missed out on the outright lead as he cancelled out his early solitary birdie with a bogey at the 18th to slip back to three under overall.

Defending champion Shingo Katayama moved up the leaderboard and into a tie for third at two under with a two under 70 to sit alongside Daisuke Maruyama (69), New Zealand's David Smail (71), Katsumasa Miyamoto (72), Hirofumi Miyase (72) and Yasuharu Imano (69).

Kaname Yokoo (72), Tomohiro Kondo (72) and Australian Brendan Jones sit tied for ninth at one under.

Joint first round leaders Kazuhiro Yamashita (76) and Shigeru Nonaka (77) slipped down the leaderboard, while Japan Tour money leader, 18-year-old sensation Ryo Ishikawa, also found conditions tough and carded a four over 76, which included five bogeys and one double bogey, to drop back to two over par overall.
