Nukaga sets the pace in Japan

Tatsunori Nukaga posted an opening round of 66 to head the field at the Bridgestone Open.

Nukaga carded five birdies and an eagle at Sodegaura Country Club with a bogey at the third his only blemish to lead the way on six under par.

The 25-year-old holds a one-stroke advantage over Naoya Takemoto, Yuta Ikeda and Hiroyuki Fujita after the trio all carded 67s.

A further six players are bunched at four-under including veteran Australian Craig Parry, who sank four birdies in his flawless 68.
