Trio lead after disrupted first round
Lin Wen-tang, Chang Tse-peng and Himmat Rai share the lead following a weather-disrupted first day at the Johor Open in Malaysia.
However, all three are yet to finish their first rounds.
Lin had sunk five birdies through 13 holes at Royal Johor Country Club, Chang did the same through 12 holes while Rai had carded four birdies, an eagle and a bogey at the turn when play was finally called off due to darkness having been suspended for three hours in the afternoon due to inclement conditions.
Thai duo Chinnarat Phadungsil and Pariya Junhasavasdikul along with New Zealander Mark Puser set the clubhouse mark at four-under while 11 players including defending champion Retief Goosen were a shot back having carded 69s.
Chinnarat fired six birdies against one double bogey and said afterwards: "My putting and approach play was good but I wasn't driving very well. Luckily for me my chipping and putting pulled me up."
Asian Tour rookie Purser collected six birdies - one of which was a chip-in from off the green on the 12th - and dropped two strokes but was satisfied with his effort.
"I got off to a good start where I birdied the first few holes, which certainly helped," he said.
"I didn't drive very well but overall, the rest of my game was pretty tidy and that gave me a chance to shoot a good round."
