Ikeda claims fourth tour title

In-form Yuta Ikeda won a fourth Japan Tour title of the season with a two-stroke victory over Kenichi Kuboya at the Bridgestone Open.

After winning the third tour crown of his career at the Canon Open at the start of October, 23-year-old Ikeda fired eight birdies in a final-round, seven-under-par 65 to finish at 18 under overall to overturn Kaname Yokoo's two-stroke overnight lead.

Ikeda only claimed his first professional win at June's Japan PGA Championship before winning August's Vana H Cup KBC Augusta.

The win at Sodegaura Country Club in Chiba Prefecture lifted Ikeda above teen sensation Ryo Ishikawa, who has also won four tour titles this season, at the top of the money list.

Ishikawa could only finish tied for 20th at seven under after a final-round, five-under 67.

Kuboya finished strongly with two birdies over his final three holes to also card a 67 to edge out third-placed Shingo Katayama by a single shot.

Katayama could only manage a 69 on Sunday, but also picked up two shots over his final three holes to finish at 15 under and two clear of Hiroshi Iwata, who shot 67 in his final round.

Masaya Tomida (64) and Yusaku Miyazato (65) finished tied for fifth at 12 under.

Yokoo, who was bidding to end a three-year drought, struggled to a 74 and was forced to share seventh with last week's Japan Open winner Ryuichi Oda (72), Katsunori Kuwabara (69) and Masanori Kobayashi (72).
