Han Chang-won opened up a two-stroke lead at the inaugural Asian Amateur Championship after carding a one-under-par 71 in the third round at Mission Hills Golf Club today.
The 21-year-old South Korean carded four birdies and three bogeys to finish 10 under and lead compatriot Eric Chun, who carded a 66.
Joint overnight leader Jordan Sherrat dropped down the leaderboard to third at seven under after a 74. New Zealander Peter Spearman-Burn is a shot further back following a 73.
The winner of the tournament secures an invitation to the 2010 Masters while both the champion and runner-up earn places in the final qualifying stage for The Open at St Andrews next year.
"I will try to play tomorrow in the way that I have been playing in the past two days," said Han. "I know it is going to be very tight.
"I didn't really understand how big winning this tournament would be and that the field would be so competitive before I came.
"I knew the winner would receive an invitation to play in The Masters though. There is no doubt that it would be the highlight of my golf career if I win this tournament."
