Have you ever hit a 250-yard hit with your driver? Not many amateurs can claim to posses such a swing in their armoury, which can see them hit that far.
Now this is a Believe it or Not story, about a 10-year-old Thailand kid who hit 250-yard mark with his driver consistently. Don’t believe it? Believe it!
At 132 centimetres, Puwit Anupansoebsai is a small wonder of Thailand golf. When experts claim the average distance covered by a 12-year-old is 200-210 yards, this 10-year-old Junior World Champion has the perfect swing to repeatedly hit beyond the 250 yard mark.
“I love to hit it hard but I also focus on other aspects of my game,” says Puwit with a cute smile on his face.
In the recently concluded, Puwit showcased his true potential. Winning the category D with a score of nine under par, the 10 year old is miles ahead of his contemporaries.
“Puwit is an amazing talent. To hit it that far at that age with such a small frame is absolutely unbelievable. But now Puwit will have face the real challenge. He will have to play different sports so as that all his muscles grow and not just the golf muscles.
Moreover, he will have to adapt to changes in the swing with his body growth. The swing, which works for him perfectly, now may not work for him in six months' time and this is where he needs to make those changes. But looking at his attitude I see no reason why he can’t do that,” says David Range, PGTI Referee at the Albatross tournament.
Puwit's passion for golf started when his millionaire dad built a golf driving range, but now the golf prodigy will require professional coaching, if he wants to fulfill his dream of becoming the next Tiger Woods.
