Collins on top in Puerto Rico

Chad Collins sits top of the leaderboard midway through the second round in Rio Grande at the Puerto Rico Open.

Play was suspended late Saturday with only a handful of players having finished their second rounds.

Of the leaders, only Paul Stankowski had made it that far, sitting at eight under par after wrapping up his first round this morning for a score of 66 before going around again in 70.

Collins was one shot better off at nine under, having made it through 11 holes second time around. He only carded a 69 for his first round but an eagle on the 2nd - the last hole he played - lifted him above Stankowski just before play was suspended.

Stankowski is in a three-way tie for second along with fellow American Jeff Overton, who reached the 14th hole, and Venezuelan Jhonattan Vegas, who used an early eagle to move up the leaderboard.

Nicholas Thompson and James Nitties led four players tied for fifth place at seven under par, but neither Skip Kendall nor Kris Blanks were able to start their second rounds, and were relying on impressive rounds of 65 earlier for their lofty position.
