
Kelly wins Toyota junior golf
The final day of the four day Toyota Etios Junior Golf Tour at the Ootacumund Golf Club in Ooty, saw overnight leaders take the first prize in Category A.
The winners under various categories were:
Category A (16-18 yrs): Overnight leader Sayed Ahmad of KGA, Bangalore, returned with a card of one over par 73 to finish with a four day total 3 over par 291 to win the title by a huge margin of ten strokes. “This week has been great for me. I hope to take this form to Coimbatore next week as well” said a smiling Sayed. Rahul Ravi of Bangalore GC finished second after returning with a card of one over 73 with a four total of 13 over par 301. “My score of 80 on the first day was too high and there was no way I could catch up with Sayed” said Rahul Ravi of Bangalore GC, Bangalore.
Category B (14-16 yrs): Kelly Rao of KGA, Bangalore took home the top prize after beating Honey Baisoya in the sudden death playoff after both players tied with a total of 309 for four rounds. In the final round, Keely scored a 3 over 75 while Honey scored a 79 to squander a chance for another win. “It feels great to win at Ooty. I have corrected the mistakes I made in Panchkula two weeks ago, which should give me more confidence next week as well “ said Kelly. Honey Baisoya of Delhi Golf Club, was a little dejected “ I missed too many putts and should have easily been on top this week”, he said.
Category C (14-12 yrs): Viraj Madappa from Tollyganj GC, Kolkata took home the top prize after returning with a remarkable 2 under 70. Viraj picked up 2 birdies on the back nine. “My round went of well. I am sinking in the birdies now.” said Viraj after his victory. Viraj had a four day total of 13 over 301 clearly outclassing his rivals by a massive margin of 17 strokes . Harsh Gangwar of SEPTA, Chandi Mandir finished second after returning with a card of one under 71 and a four day total of 318.
Category D (10-12 yrs): Harshjeet Sethi of DLF GC took home the first prize after returning with a card of 10 over 82 & a four day total of 35 over 253. “I am really excited on this victory” said Harshjeet. Devansh Chaddha of RCGC, Kolkata finished second after returning with a card of 12 over par 84 for a four day total of 356.
