Petzschner crashes out of Croatia Open

Philipp Petzschner was bundled out of the Studena Croatia Open at the first hurdle by Belgian veteran Olivier Rochus.

Rochus triumphed 6-2 6-3 in 85 minutes to advance to the second round.

Petzschner was not the only seed to fall, with seventh seed Sergiy Stakhovsky following him out of the competition, the Ukrainian collapsing to a 6-3 6-7 (7-5) 6-0 defeat to the Italian Potito Starace.

Elsewhere there were wins for Pablo Cuevas, Stephane Robert and Andreas Seppi, while local wild card Ivan Dodig delighted the home fans with a comprehensive 6-3 6-4 win over Spain's Ivan Navarro.
