Poulter in the clear

Poulter in the clear

Ian Poulter will not be penalised by the European Tour after being cleared of using bad language at the Barclays Scottish Open.

Commentator Ken Brown apologised after Poulter shouted at himself in disgust after a poor shot on the 10th hole at Loch Lomond.

However, Poulter was adamant he had not sworn - instead using the phrase "Get to the hole you ponce" - and the former Ryder Cup star was vindicated after officials studied video evidence.

"I'm a bit disappointed it's been interpreted another way but I've not done anything wrong and I'm quite happy I've not said something I shouldn't have," said the 32-year-old, who was also backed by playing partner Niclas Fasth.
