Dredge dreams of Cup berth
Bradley Dredge views the first-ever Ryder Cup in Wales as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play in the match on home soil.
Sunday's win in Morocco by 24-year-old Rhys Davies has made him the likeliest Welshman to be part of Colin Montgomerie's side, but Dredge will not give up trying until it is mathematically impossible.
Even then, he jokes that he will offer Montgomerie a bribe to make him one of his three wild cards.
Dredge, off to a flying start last September when he finished second in the first qualifying event for Celtic Manor, has not been able to build on that yet.
"I need to win tournaments," said 36-year-old Dredge.
"Unfortunately I've not played well enough to get in the majors or world championships, but I know what I have to do and you never know."
What he is sure of is that compatriot Davies has the potential to become huge in the game.
"I've only played with him at the Open qualifier last year, but he's one of the best putters I've ever seen and it was no surprise to see him win.
"He's going to fill out and strengthen and his golf swing will improve as a result of that.
"There's always one or two players who nobody thought of at the start of the year and who then have a chance of making the Ryder Cup team and he might be one of those."
