India beat Belgium
India Monday won their second match of the 17th Sultan Azlan Shah Cup hockey tournament against Belgium.
NEW DELHI (espnstar.com) - India Monday won their second match of the 17th Sultan Azlan Shah Cup hockey tournament against Belgium but not before squandering a 5-1 lead at Ipoh, Malaysia.
The Indians opened up with an impressive 5-1 lead in the first-half but were narrowed down 5-4 by Belgium's three goals before India sealed their sixth goal.
India's six goals were by Shivenda Singh (9th & 68th) Diwakar Ram (22nd), Sandeep Singh (29th & 35th) and S V Sunil (32nd)
Beijing Olympics-bound Belgium scored through Alexandre De Sadeleer (24th), Thomas Briels (45th & 59th) and Charles Vandeweghe (61st)
India have six points from two wins, while Belgium are without any points after suffering three straight losses.
In other matches, Malaysia were thrashed 5-0 by Argentina in their third match while Pakistan came from behind to beat Canada 2-1. Pakistan have 10 points from three wins and a draw, while Canada have three from a win.
Tuesday is a rest day. The seven-nation tournament will resume on Wednesday where New Zealand face Argentina, Belgium meet Pakistan and Malaysia take on Canada.
