Report: Vickerson hit with drug ban

Tennessee Titans reserve defensive tackle Kevin Vickerson has been suspended for four games without pay for violating the NFL's policy on anabolic steroids and related substances, according to a report by The Tennessean on Friday.

Vickerson tested positive for the banned diuretic Bumetanide, league sources told the newspaper.

He initially planned to appeal but decided to begin serving the suspension. Vickerson is eligible to return in time for the playoffs as the suspension ends December 29, the day after the Titans' regular-season finale against the Indianapolis Colts.

"It was kind of a rough situation for Kevin, the timing and everything," Vickerson's agent Tony Fleming told The Tennessean.

"He completely feels like he was innocent and didn't do anything wrong. But for the benefit of the team and the situation, he wanted to get it out of the way and get ready for the Super Bowl run."

Vickerson was placed on the team's suspended list, leaving its roster at 52 players. The Titans are not expected to add a player prior to Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns, the newspaper reported.
