Rob Johnson doubled two runs in the 11th inning as the Seattle Mariners rallied to overcome the Boston Red Sox 7-6.

Seattle had battled back from a two-run deficit before then climbing into a two-run lead at the bottom of the eighth.

Nick Green forged a 5-5 tie with a two-run double but the Mariners got the decisive runs off Ramon Ramirez in the 11th.

Placido Polanco struck a pair of extra-inning singles to guide the Detroit Tigers to a thrilling 11-9 win over the Minnesota Twins in 16 innings.

Polanco had a run in the top of the 14th before Michael Cuddyer drew the Twins level at 8-8 with an RBI single.

However, Polanco singled in the 16th before Ryan Raburn and Magglio Ordonez added insurance runs for Detroit.

Aubrey Huff struck a three-run homer as the Baltimore Orioles defeated the Los Angeles Angels 6-4.

Robinson Cano struck the leadoff homer in the second while Alex Rodriquez homered in the eighth for the Yankees.

Tommy Hunter allowed one earned run over 5 1/3 innings for his first major league win as the Texas Rangers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 3-1.

Hunter, on his 23rd birthday allowed three hits and struck out five while Hank Blalock homered for the Rangers.

Choo Shin-soo hit two homers, seven RBI and four runs as the Cleveland Indians beat the Oakland Athletics 15-3. The Indians battled back from a two-run deficit before taking the lead with a three-run third inning.

John Danks allowed five hits and struck out five as the Chicago White Sox picked up their seventh straight win with a 5-0 defeat of Kansas City. AJ Pierzynski homered and had three hits for the White Sox, who won for the 11th time in 13 games.
