Kuyt: Dalglish has already helped us
Dutch forward Dirk Kuyt is supremely confident that Kenny Dalglish’s aura can resurrect Liverpool’s season.
According to the Daily Mirror, Kuyt has also expressed his belief in Dalglish's tactical nous as Kop manager and has backed the Scotsman to turn around Liverpool's fortunes this campaign.
Despite Dalglish having yet to guide the Reds to a win in three matches since taking charge last week- losing to Manchester United and Blackpool followed by a 2-2 stalemate with Everton in the Merseyside derby- Kuyt feels that the manager is already making a huge impression within the squad.
He explained: "Dalglish is one of the most important players and managers for Liverpool and you only have to listen to the crowd to see how important he is for the club - and that's the same for the players.
"It's not easy for any manager to come into a team in the middle of the season but he's already helped us a lot and I'm sure he will in the future.
"It's difficult. Six months ago, I was playing in a World Cup final. Last week I had my second defeat of the season to Blackpool. That's not something that should have happened, because we're better than that. I'm better than that and the team is.
"We all know we have to perform better and the team has to perform better. Fortunes change quickly, and I'm confident with the manager we have and the players we have we will do better than we have early in the season and it's just a matter of time until we perform again."
Kuyt has been hugely reluctant to slate former manager Roy Hodgson after the former Fulham chief was practically hounded of his Anfield post by the Kop faithful.
"I don't want to be disrespectful to Hodgson because he gave everything he could. He wanted to play in a certain way, but every manager has their own training sessions, their own tactics, their own way of playing," Kuyt added.
"In the last three games we played 4-3-3 and with Hodgson it was 4-4-2. You listen to the manager and make the best of it. He gave everything for the club and it's a shame it did not work out.
"The way we play is very enjoyable, especially in the first-half against Everton. But it was a bit of a shame we didn't score more goals.
After a flurry of three matches in eight days, Dalglish now has a full week to prepare the Reds for their trip to Wolves in the coming weekend and Kuyt is looking forward to finally settling down to Dalglish's methods on the training pitch.
He said: "It's good we will have a couple of sessions extra to be ready for the next game. It's always important for a new manager, especially when you come in in the middle of the season, to have a bit of time to change and speak with the players about how you want them to play."
Liverpool are stuck in 13th spot with 26 points after Sunday's pulsating Merseyside derby draw with Everton.
