Top notch driving awaits Singapore

ESPN STAR Sports F1 analyst Steve Slater hopes that the Singapore GP will eclipse the Valencia GP displays.

While plenty of drama was witnessed at the Valencia GP, including an injured casualty from a member of the Ferrari team, Slater echoed his belief that not much action was seen in terms of overtaking at the Valencia circuit and hopes that the maiden Singapore GP, similar in its curvy nature, will produce more spectacular driving.

Slater said: "The new Valencia track delivered plenty of dramas, but little overtaking."

"Part of the reason is that the design of the track has curving approaches to many of the slow corners which preclude side-by-side running."

"The good news is that the Singapore track while similar in width, layout and speed, has many of its slow corners at the end of long straights."

"I've got high hopes that the Marina Bay track will deliver just as much drama, plus overtaking too!"

The F1 commentator also felt that Ferrari should now make a tough but decisive decision over who to support for the F1 championship.

He said: "This year it seems Ferrari are going to have to make a similar decision."

"Only this time it is Massa who looks like the title contender and one suspects that Raikkonen might be less willing to play the supporting role."
