Mosley: Rivals right to deny Schumi
Max Mosley believes that rival teams were correct to deny Michael Schumacher the opportunity to test the Ferrari F60.
Schumacher has already used a 2007-spec vehicle to prepare for his return to F1 racing, but the Maranello-based team then submitted a request for the seven-time world champion to use the F60 for testing in the days leading up to the European Grand Prix.
Ferrari went ahead with their request despite a ban on in-season testing in F1, with Williams and both Red Bull teams refusing the German the privilege of getting behind the wheel of the F60.
The veto has reportedly angered Ferrari, but Mosley justified the move as he reasoned that there should be no exceptions made for the German racing legend, especially after Formula One newcomer Jaime Alguersuari debuted in the Hungarian Grand Prix for Toro Rosso without prior experience with their car.
"I think the test ban rule is unreasonable, but that's the way it is," Mosley is quoted to have told the German newspaper Bild.
"If a 19-year-old driver such as Jaime Alguersuari may not test before his first race, then you can't make an exception for Michael Schumacher."
