Karthikeyan 'happy' for Chandhok

Narain Karthikeyan, the first F1 driver from India congratulated Karun Chandhok, who ended the country's long wait at the circuit.

"I am very happy for him to have got a seat in Formula 1 and becoming the second driver from our country to do so. I wish him the best," Karthikeyan said in his reaction to the news.

Chandhok, the youngster from Chennai, today signed a deal with Hispania Racing team, who will make their debut at Bharain.

Karthikeyan drove for Jordan in 2005.

An emotional Vicky Chandhok, Karun's father, had no words to talk about his son's achievement.

"Honestly, I don't know what to say. I am absolutely overwhelmed and have tears in my eyes. It has been a tough journey, but very satisfying one for sure. Karun has worked really hard to live his dream," he said.

Sanjay Sharma, General Manager, MotorSport, JK Tyres, Karun's sponsor said, "We have been waiting for this moment.

We were instrumental in Narain (Karthikeyan) making it to Formula 1 and played our part in moulding Karun's career to reach the top. We will continue to assist all Indian drivers.
