Massa bids to avoid Montreal woe
Felipe Massa is determined to avoid another black day in Montreal and end Ferrari's recent winless run at the Canadian Grand Prix.
A year ago Massa's race ended in misery when he was black flagged for exiting the pit lane under a red light and with team-mate Kimi Raikkonen finishing fifth behind maiden race winner Lewis Hamilton, it was a day to forget for Ferrari.
Ahead of this weekend's race, Massa said: "With hindsight I can see all the positive aspects of that race, which given I started from pole can be seen as disappointing. The most positive element to come out of it is that we proved the car was definitely competitive there for the first time for a few years now."
He added: "Before going to Monaco (on May 25) we could not be completely certain how the race would go after the disappointments of the last two years.
"While the facts show just one third place, it's believable to say we could have won if the race had been run in normal conditions.
"I'm not saying we would have won easily, but victory would have been the logical conclusion to the weekend given we started from first and second on the grid and with the best possible strategy.
"In the end we lost what turned out to be a crazy race.
"So we can be optimistic about turning this event (Canada), which again has not gone too well for us in the past, into a successful weekend.
"I like the circuit, and I went well there earlier in my career with Sauber in 2005 when I finished fourth. But last year was not so good as I had that incident with the traffic light at the end of the pit lane.
"It was not a nice feeling leaving Canada having being black flagged during the race."
