Rookie grabs pole at Abu Dhabi
In one of the more hotly-contested qualifiers of GP2 Asia, youth proved to be better than experience as two rookies jolted to the front.
In a narrow win, Arden's rookie driver Charles Pic took pole position for the first GP2 Asia race of 2010.
Pic was pressured by iSport's Italian driver Davide Valsecchi who leads the overall driver's standings with a first and second finish in this year's series.
Even with the more experienced Valsecchi breathing down his neck, Pic was able to hold onto the pole position for the February 5th race.
Maybe even more surprisingly, Oliver Turvey - iSport's rookie driver - was quickest in sector three of his final lap and nicked his teammate Valsecchi for second position. Turvey's strong finish will hand him the other position in the front row, which is comprised of two rookies.
After Valsecchi, the rest of the top five will be rounded out by ART's Jules Bianchi and Alexander Rossi from Meritus.
